Overview#
The Kohler 200REOZJF is a 200-kilowatt diesel commercial standby generator built on John Deere's 6.8 L inline-6 platform. Per spec sheet G5-373, the unit pairs the 6068HFG85 (Tier 3, 1800 RPM) with a 4-pole brushless rotating-field alternator and a Kohler controller. Standard offerings are three-phase at 120/208 V or 277/480 V.
This is a common size point for hospitals, data centers, and campus power: large enough for many life-safety branch panels, compact enough for standard mechanical rooms or outdoor pads.
The John Deere 6068 platform#
The 6068 family is one of the most widely deployed mid-size standby diesel engines in North America. Parts availability, documentation, and field knowledge are broad — which materially reduces parts lead time on unplanned repairs.
NFPA 110 compliance#
At 200 kW most installations are NFPA 110 Level 1 or Level 2. Standard 200REOZJF configurations support:
- 10-second cold-start capability with block heater and battery charger
- Run/fail annunciation through the Kohler controller and remote alarm contacts
- Sub-base or remote fuel storage sized to NFPA 110 runtime requirements
- Programmable exerciser
- Available IBC/CBC seismic certification
Our service experience#
The 200REOZJF is one of the most common commercial diesel platforms in our fleet. John Deere 6068 parts are readily available. The most frequent issue we see is fuel degradation from low runtime, which we mitigate via semi-annual fuel sampling.
