Overview#
The Kohler KG45 is a 41-50 kW commercial standby generator in Kohler's industrial gaseous (KG) lineup. It uses a Brushless Rare-Earth Permanent-Magnet alternator with fast-response excitation and runs on natural gas or LP propane with field-selectable fuel switching. Rated output ranges from 41 to 50 kW depending on fuel type and voltage configuration.
The KG45 slots between the KG40 and KG50, offering a mid-step option when the KG40 is undersized but the full KG50 rating is not needed. It shares the same industrial platform and EPA Stationary Spark Ignition certification as the rest of the KG line.
Our service experience#
The KG45 shares the same engine and alternator platform as adjacent KG models, so service patterns and parts are consistent across the series. We see these units in small commercial buildings, telecom sites, and light industrial facilities.
