The Winco PSS8B2W is an 8 kW home standby generator powered by a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard V-Twin engine, running on LP (propane) or natural gas. Part of the PSS home standby series, it delivers single-phase 120/240V output for residential backup power. Air-cooled for low maintenance. 100% US-made in Le Center, Minnesota since 1927.
The PSS series is Winco's residential standby line — designed for permanent outdoor installation with weather enclosure and automatic start capability. At 8 kW, the PSS8B2W is the entry-level model in the series, sized for essential-circuit coverage in an average-sized home.

Service & Maintenance#
Oil changes every 100 hours or annually. Air filter and spark plug replacement at 200 hours. The air-cooled Vanguard design eliminates coolant system maintenance entirely — no coolant, no water pump, no radiator. For standby generators, weekly exercise under load is critical: it prevents fuel system degradation, maintains battery charge, and keeps transfer switch contacts clean.
Major overhaul at 5,000 hours — a threshold that home standby generators with low annual runtime rarely approach in their operational lifetime.
