Overview#
The Winco PSS12H2W is a 12 kW home standby generator powered by a Honda GX690 688cc V-Twin overhead valve engine, running on LP (12 kW) or natural gas (10 kW). Part of the PSS home standby series, it delivers single-phase 120/240V output for residential whole-house backup. Air-cooled. 100% US-made in Le Center, Minnesota since 1927.
The PSS12H2W is the Honda-powered unit in the PSS series. The Honda GX690 is the largest commercial GX engine Honda produces — widely regarded as the gold standard of small commercial V-Twin engines.

Service & Maintenance#
Oil changes every 100 hours or annually. Air filter and spark plug replacement at 200 hours. The Honda GX690 uses standard Honda commercial engine consumables available from any Honda dealer nationwide. The air-cooled design eliminates coolant system maintenance entirely.
Standby generators should be exercised weekly under load to maintain battery charge and keep transfer switch contacts clean. This is especially important for LP-fueled standby units where the gas system may have small impurities that build up in the fuel regulator on extended standby.
