Overview#
The Generac SD2750/MD2750 is a 2,750-kilowatt industrial diesel generator powered by a Baudouin 16M55 87.5-liter V16 turbocharged and aftercooled diesel engine. This unit is EPA Certified for Stationary Emergency applications and is part of Generac's newest generation of large-frame diesel generators designed specifically for hyperscale data center and mission-critical applications. The SDMD2750 uses the same Baudouin V16 engine platform as the SD3000 and SD3250, with bore and stroke dimensions of 180 mm x 215 mm identical across the range.
Generac pairs the Baudouin engine with a Marathon DataMAX alternator purpose-built for data center applications, emphasizing reliability and low reactance. The Deep Sea Electronics G8601 controller provides comprehensive generator management with advanced PLC functionality, SNMP integration, and IP65-rated display. A redundant starting system with isolated battery banks is available to eliminate single points of failure.
Our Service Experience#
The SDMD2750 is a major infrastructure installation typically specified for hyperscale data centers and large campus microgrids. The Baudouin 87.5L V16 platform shares the same cylinder architecture (bore, stroke, piston, liner) as the SD3000 and SD3250, which means common spare parts and service procedures across the lineup. The high-pressure common rail injection system requires ultra-clean fuel, and we strongly recommend duplex fuel-water separators and regular fuel quality testing for standby applications. The dual-circuit coolant system (high-temperature and low-temperature loops) adds complexity compared to single-circuit designs but provides better thermal management at this power level.
