Overview#
The Echo DGK36FS is a 36 kW single-phase portable diesel generator built in Japan by Yamabiko Corporation (formerly Shindaiwa). Powered by an Isuzu 4LE2X four-cylinder diesel engine, the DGK36FS delivers 36 kW prime power through a dedicated 120/240V single-phase configuration. The 79-gallon integral fuel tank provides approximately 28 hours of continuous full-load operation. The sound-attenuated enclosure produces 65 dBA at 7 meters. Tier 4 Final and CARB compliant with S.E.T. Smart Emissions Technology for active DPF regeneration under light loads.
Isuzu 4LE2X Engine Platform#
The DGK36FS is powered by the Isuzu 4LE2X — an upgraded variant of the 4LE2T used in Echo's 20-25 kVA models. The 2.179-liter inline four-cylinder diesel runs at 1800 RPM and delivers the additional power output needed for 36 kW prime rating. Isuzu's industrial diesel engines are widely deployed across construction equipment worldwide, providing excellent parts availability and a large service technician knowledge base. S.E.T. (Smart Emissions Technology) manages Tier 4 Final DPF regeneration automatically under light loads, preventing soot buildup without operator intervention — critical for rental fleet applications where operators may not understand regeneration procedures.
Our Service Experience#
As authorized service providers in Northern California, we maintain Echo DGK Series generators across the Bay Area and Central Valley. The DGK36FS is particularly popular for residential construction and commercial tenant improvement projects where dedicated single-phase 120/240V power is needed at output levels that smaller units cannot reach. The 79-gallon fuel tank provides genuine multi-day runtime capability, reducing fuel delivery logistics for remote sites. The Isuzu 4LE2X engine shares many service procedures and consumables with the 4LE2T platform in the smaller DGK20FS and DGK25F, simplifying fleet maintenance. Echo's 3-year warranty — the longest in the portable class — reflects Yamabiko's confidence in the Shindaiwa engineering heritage behind every unit.
