Overview#
The Atlas Copco QAS 175 FD is a 175 kVA portable diesel generator powered by an FPT (Fiat Powertrain) N67TEVP01 6.7L inline-6 engine. Delivering 140 kW prime / 154 kW standby, it is one of two FPT-powered units in the QAS range. The sound-attenuated enclosure keeps noise to 69 dBA at 7 meters at 75% load — 5-8 dB quieter than most competitors in the 125-175 kW portable class. EPA Tier 4 Final and CARB compliant, it is legal for operation throughout California without restriction.
Technical highlights#
The QAS 175 pairs the FPT N67 platform — widely used across construction and marine applications — with a Leroy Somer TAL 044J alternator featuring Class H insulation and voltage regulation within ±0.25%. The engine runs at 1800 RPM and delivers strong fuel economy at 7 gph at 75% load. With a 194-gallon integral diesel tank and an 11-gallon DEF tank, the unit offers roughly 27-28 hours of continuous runtime at typical job-site loads. Three-phase 277/480V output at 60 Hz serves most commercial electrical panels directly, making the QAS 175 a versatile mid-range workhorse for rental fleets and temporary power applications.
Our service experience#
Atlas Copco's Swedish engineering is evident in the QAS 175's quiet operation, compact footprint, and fuel efficiency. The FPT N67 engine is a reliable platform with broad parts availability. Where Atlas Copco falls short in Northern California is after-sale service: unreturned calls, $311+/hr travel charges, and parts delays are the most common complaints we hear from fleet operators and rental houses. OnPoint provides a local Bay Area and NorCal service alternative — responsive scheduling, transparent pricing, and technicians who know FPT engines and Leroy Somer alternators. If you own or rent QAS units in Northern California, we are here to keep them running.
