Overview#

The Winco DR175F4 is a 175 kW standby / 167 kW prime diesel generator powered by an FPT Industrial N67 TE2 6.7-liter six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with a Stamford alternator. The largest diesel standby unit in Winco's DR series — the flagship of their enclosed diesel standby line. Three-phase-only (277/480V) output. EPA Tier III certified (standby). 100% US-made in Le Center, Minnesota.

At 175 kW, the DR175F4 is the upper limit of Winco's diesel standby range. It represents the full capability of Winco's US manufacturing platform — the most powerful generator they produce, still built entirely in Le Center.

The American Manufacturing Advantage#

The 175 kW class is where US manufacturing origin becomes genuinely rare. Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, and MTU all use overseas engine platforms or mixed-origin assemblies at this output level. The DR175F4 is assembled in the US with an FPT Industrial N67 TE2 engine (CNH Industrial) and a Stamford alternator — both globally non-proprietary.

For federal agencies, DoD contractors, and healthcare systems subject to Buy American Act requirements, the DR175F4 provides 175 kW of qualifying US-manufactured standby infrastructure. Engine service goes through CNH Industrial's global dealer network (Case IH, New Holland, Iveco). Alternator service uses standard Stamford parts available through multiple supplier networks.

Service & Maintenance#

Oil and fuel filter changes every 500 hours or annually. At 6.7 liters of displacement, the N67 TE2 six-cylinder has a larger oil capacity and higher consumable cost than smaller platforms — factor this into lifecycle maintenance budgets. Annual fuel filter changes are mandatory for standby units regardless of hours, as diesel fuel degrades in storage tanks.

The Stamford alternator requires periodic brush inspection, bearing lubrication, and insulation testing — standard commercial generator maintenance. Transfer switch contacts should be exercised weekly. Major overhaul at 20,000 hours.

Our Service Experience#

PowerGen services Winco DR units throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. At 175 kW, the DR175F4 is in a class where Cummins and Caterpillar dominate. Winco's value is specific: US manufacture and non-proprietary components for projects where that matters more than brand recognition or connected monitoring features. The FPT Industrial N67 TE2 and Stamford components are serviced through the same commercial generator supply chains we use on all major diesel standby platforms — no specialized Winco dealer required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the standby kW rating of the DR175F4?
The DR175F4 is rated at 175 kW standby / 167 kW prime. It is the largest diesel standby generator in Winco's DR series, a three-phase-only unit (277/480V).
What engine does the DR175F4 use?
The DR175F4 uses an FPT Industrial N67 TE2 6.7-liter six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine from CNH Industrial. The N67 is the same engine family used across the DR series — the same displacement as the DR130F4 but tuned to a higher output rating.
What makes Winco different from Generac or Kohler?
Winco uses non-proprietary FPT Industrial engines and Stamford alternators — components any qualified diesel technician can service without OEM-specific tools or parts programs. Winco has manufactured 100% in Le Center, Minnesota since 1927. Cummins, Caterpillar, and Kohler dominate the 175 kW class with proprietary platforms, larger dealer networks, and connected monitoring but require proprietary parts and service.
What emissions tier is the DR175F4?
The DR175F4 carries EPA Tier III certification for standby applications. The FPT N67 TE2 is a Tier III engine — standby generators in this output class carry Tier III certification under EPA standby exemption rules.
Where are Winco generators made?
100% in Le Center, Minnesota. Winco has operated continuously at that US facility since 1927 — America's oldest generator manufacturer.
What are the service intervals for the DR175F4?
Oil and fuel filter changes every 500 hours or annually. Air filter inspection at 500 hours. Major overhaul at 20,000 hours. Transfer switch contacts should be exercised weekly during standby periods.
Who services Winco generators in Northern California?
PowerGen services Winco DR units throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. The FPT Industrial N67 TE2 engine and Stamford alternator are non-proprietary — our technicians source parts through standard commercial diesel channels and service the DR175F4 as we would any major commercial diesel standby generator.
