Overview#

The Triton Power TP-NG300-S-K-UL is a 300 kW natural gas standby generator powered by a PSI (Power Solutions International) 13L HO (High Output) turbocharged inline-6 engine running at 1800 RPM. This unit is part of Triton's EPA-certified natural gas generator lineup, UL2200 listed for the US and Canadian markets. The Leroy Somer Class H insulation alternator delivers 300 kW standby and 270 kW prime power in three-phase configuration at 120/208V and 277/480V.

The PSI 13L HO engine extracts more power from the same 13-liter displacement block used in the TP-NG250, through enhanced turbocharging and optimized calibration. This allows facilities that need 300 kW to stay on the proven inline-6 platform rather than stepping up to a larger V-configuration engine. The unit meets EPA Stationary Spark Ignition emissions standards and maintains 64 dBA sound output.

Our service experience#

The 300 kW natural gas class serves larger commercial buildings, warehouses, and light industrial facilities. The PSI 13L HO shares the same basic engine architecture as the 250 kW variant, so technicians familiar with one model can service the other with minimal retraining. The higher output does increase thermal loading, so cooling system maintenance and charge air cooler inspections are important at scheduled intervals.

Adjust load percent and tank size to estimate runtime. Pre-filled with this model's spec where available.

Estimate runtime on this tank

Fuel demand at 75% load

3,150,000 BTU/hr3150.0 cf/min @ 1,000 BTU/cf

On utility natural gas the runtime is generally unlimited provided the supply line and meter can deliver this BTU/hr at the engine's required inlet pressure (typically 5–14" WC residential, up to 5 psi commercial). Confirm against the OEM's published fuel-pressure spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'HO' mean in the PSI 13L HO engine designation?
HO stands for High Output. The PSI 13L HO is a higher-rated version of the standard PSI 13L engine, using enhanced turbocharging and calibration to produce 300 kW standby power from the same 13-liter inline-6 block. This provides more power without stepping up to a larger engine platform.
How does the TP-NG300 compare to the diesel TP-S300-T4F?
Both deliver 300 kW standby power. The TP-NG300 runs on pipeline natural gas with EPA Stationary Spark Ignition certification, while the TP-S300-T4F is a Tier 4 Final diesel unit. The natural gas model eliminates diesel fuel storage, reduces particulate emissions, and avoids fuel degradation during standby. The diesel model offers fuel independence and may be preferred at remote sites without gas service.
What gas line sizing is needed for a 300 kW natural gas generator?
A 300 kW natural gas generator consumes approximately 3,600-4,200 CFH at full load. This typically requires a minimum 2-inch dedicated gas line, though actual sizing depends on line length, pressure drop, and supply pressure. A gas utility load study and professional pipe sizing calculation are essential before installation.

Why we recommend Triton Power

Triton Power is our value brand for mobile and portable diesel generators, and an emerging option for industrial standby. When MQ Power's pricing is a stretch or lead times are too long, Triton delivers comparable capability at a lower price point with faster availability.

We are developing our Triton Power sales relationship and building fleet experience. Every engine platform Triton uses — Perkins, John Deere, Kubota, Scania, Volvo — is one we already service daily across other brands. Triton's open architecture means our technicians can maintain these units with standard tooling and widely available parts.
