Katolight's most common configuration paired John Deere 4045 and 6068 engines with Marathon or Stamford alternators for the 15-200 kW range. These units were the backbone of Katolight's light-commercial and mid-range industrial lineup, covering everything from small office buildings to municipal pump stations. The John Deere engine platform provided a balance of fuel efficiency, parts availability, and proven reliability that made Katolight a competitive alternative to Cummins and Kohler in this power range.

Katolight was acquired by MTU (now Rolls-Royce Power Systems) in 2006 and rebranded as MTU Onsite Energy. Although the Katolight brand is discontinued and no new units are manufactured, a large installed base remains in service across North America. John Deere 4045 and 6068 engine parts are widely available through John Deere's nationwide dealer network, and most service components (filters, belts, coolant systems) remain standard industrial items. OnPoint provides full maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for existing Katolight John Deere installations.
